Topaz Stories Field Trip!

Oakridge Elementary School students work on a Topaz Stories scavenger hunt activity.

105 third- and fourth-graders from Oakridge Elementary in Salt Lake City had a field trip to the State Capitol on November 1 to see the Topaz Stories Exhibit.

The visit was organized by Max Chang, who also created a 10-question scavenger hunt that could be answered by viewing the stories and artifacts in the exhibit. (Three students answered all ten questions correctly!)

Max had the support of the class teachers, Oakridge principal, parent chaperones, Brad Westwood of the Utah Dept. of Culture & Community engagement, Utah State Senator Jani Iwamoto, and State Representative Elizabeth Weight.

It’s wonderful to see such a creative collaboration come together to enjoy the exhibit before it closes on December 31. Thanks to all who participated!
